Join us for a paddle on the Mississippi at Pakenham

Directions:   From Almonte, take County Rd.29 17 km to Five Span Bridge park in Pakenham. Parking at launch site. Easy river access at the launch site: WARNING: Stay clear of rapids under the bridge upriver from the launch site.

Time: Scheduled departure is 10am. Trip duration is an estimated 4 hours return. We will stop for lunch near the Highway 17 bridge.

The trip:  Easy, scenic paddle. Many shoreline wildflowers. Watch for kingfishers, blue herons, otters, and possibly red-headed woodpeckers.

Bring: lunch, bug juice, binoculars, sunscreen, etc.

Ensure you are equipped with life jacket, bailing bucket, whistle, heaving line, extra paddle, etc.

Registration: You must pre-register for this event by completing the form found here. Registration is limited to 20 participants.

Safety: During the trip, all participants are requested to maintain minimum 2-metre distancing from other paddlers (outside their bubble).

MVFN membership must be up-to-date (check your membership card).  You can update and pay for your membership on the MVFN website. You may bring a friend or two, subject to the approval of the trip leader.

In case of severe weather, this event may be rescheduled to the Saturday July 10th, or cancelled. If in doubt, contact Brent Eades before 8 A.M.
