Nature Talk February 17 2022: What is Climate Change Doing to Ontario’s Forests?

The MVFN February Nature Talk will again be in keeping with our theme of “Human Interactions with the Natural World“.  Once again, it will be a Zoom presentation, and our presenter will be Dr. Steve Colombo from EcoView Consulting in Tecumseh, Ontario.

In Steve’s words, “There is not a single aspect of the environment that rising greenhouse gas emissions are not changing”.  His presentation will look at Ontario forests, ways that climate change impacts can be predicted and how this information can be used to reduce risk and adapt our forests.

Steve Colombo is a consultant on environmental issues related to forests, climate change and forest management. He has more than 35 years of experience as a research scientist with the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry, where he led and contributed to research concerning forest carbon, adaptation to climate change, and forest regeneration.  He earned a Ph.D. in forestry from the University of Toronto and has published more than 120 technical and scientific papers and two books.
