Fall Paddle/Hike Camp

We know. It isn’t even summer yet, and we are talking about the Fall Camp.

If you attended the Spring Gathering, you will have seen the announcement that we have chosen Algonquin Provincial Park, Whitefish Lake Campground as the site of the 2025 Fall Paddle/Hike Camp,The camp will take place on September 5 – 8, 2025.

The Whitefish Lake Campground in Algonquin Provincial Park is located about 230 km from Almonte, about a 3 hour drive.  The route from Almonte to the Campground is via CR29 to Arnprior, Hwy 417 and 17 to Renfrew and Hwy 60 through Whitney and the East Gate to the campground.   We will be paddling on the Madawaska River and Whitefish Lake. There are many interesting hiking trails along the Highway 60 corridor of the Park, and we will explore some of them.

We have reserved 3 group campsites, providing adequate room for our kitchen shelter, tents and RVs.  If you prefer to stay off-site, there are 2 motels in Whitney, just outside the East Gate.

We will calculate a fee per person to cover the cost of the campsites, firewood, common supplies etc. and it will be based on the number of registrations we anticipate.  You will then be responsible for your “additional vehicle” permit as you arrive. If you have an annual day use vehicle pass, that, unfortunately doesn’t count and you still have to pay the overnight rate.

We estimate that the total of the campsite fee and the additional vehicle fee will be about $70 to $80 per person.  We will know better once we receive the pre-registrations below.

In order to give us an idea of how many to expect, and to give you priority for registration later this summer (attendance will be limited to 40 participants), please complete the Pre-Registration form found HERE. We will set up a payment system and complete registration later in the summer.

In the meantime, if you have any questions or suggestions you can reach the committee at paddling@mvfn.ca
