Whitefish Lake Group Campground, Algonquin Park, ON
September 11-14, 2026
FINAL NOTICE for MVFN’s 2026 Fall Camp Registration:
This is your final opportunity to register for MVFN’s 2026 Fall Camp and pay your camp fee. Registration will remain open until midnight on Friday August 28 or until we have 40 registered campers, whichever comes first.
Fall Camp is always held the first weekend after Labour Day. This year’s Fall Camp will take place from Friday afternoon at 2:00pm (Park check-in time) Sept 11 to noon on Monday Sept 14 at the Whitefish Lake Group Campground on the Hwy 60 Corridor in Algonquin Park. It is located about 230 km from Almonte, about a 3 hour drive. The route from Almonte to the Campground is via CR29 to Arnprior, Hwy 417 westbound and Hwy 17 to Renfrew and Hwy 60 through Whitney and the East Gate to the campground.
We have reserved 2 adjacent group campsites: 516 and 517. The camp is limited by our insurance policy to 40 people, who must all be current members of MVFN. No guests and no pets please, except for service dogs. There will be plenty of room for our kitchen and dining shelter plus our tents, trailers and RVs. If anyone prefers to stay off-site, there are 2 motels in Whitney, just outside the East Gate of the Park.
The fee for the weekend is $70.00 per person, which includes the 2 campsite rentals for 3 nights, insurance, firewood and common supplies.
Upon arrival at the campground, the driver of each vehicle must pay the Additional Vehicle Fee at the campground office. The Additional Vehicle Fee includes all taxes. The regular fee is $14.13 per night, the fee for seniors (age 65 and over) is $11.53 per night and the fee for disabled persons is $7.63 per night. If you have an Annual Day Use Vehicle Permit, it does NOT cover the overnight rate covered by the Additional Vehicle Fee.

As you likely know by now, MVFN is transitioning this year to a new IT system called Yapla which will streamline the management of our club’s membership and activities. You will by now have received confirmation of your current membership status via Yapla and the opportunity to use the new Members’ Portal to establish a password for your subsequent use of the Members’ Portal. If you have not already done so, please complete this process NOW. While you are there, please take the time to update your personal data and your various interests within the club. You will also be asked to supply your emergency contact information (new).
The Membership information is now being run on the Yapla platform. Fall Camp Registration is the first live use of Yapla for the registration of a club activity.
You can update and pay for your membership on the new Yapla system here: https://my.mvfn.ca/en/members/
Please complete the Fall Camp Registration by going to https://my.mvfn.ca/en/events. EACH MEMBER MUST REGISTER SEPARATELY USING THEIR OWN ACCOUNT. If you decide to attend this year’s Fall Camp, please register and pay your camp fee as soon as possible.
There are many tasks involved in running the camp. Please volunteer wherever you can.
There is a screen recording showing how to complete the registration process located HERE. Ignore the part about entering a subscription code, which has now been removed.
PAYMENT: As soon as you complete your registration, you will receive an email confirming that you are registered.
You will then receive a second email. If you paid online by credit card, Google Pay or Apple Pay, this email will thank you for your payment and include your paid invoice. If you selected another payment method, the email will include your invoice showing the amount owing and instructions on how to complete the payment.
Paying online by credit card, Google Pay, or Apple Pay is the only way for the Finance Committee to see immediately, in real time, that your camp fee has been paid.
For this year’s camp and our inaugural use of the Yapla system, we strongly encourage everyone to pay their camp fee by credit card, Google Pay or Apple Pay. Yapla is a secure system, and neither MVFN nor Yapla will store your credit card information. We will no longer be using PayPal.
If you are unable to pay online by credit card, Google Pay or Apple Pay, your payment instruction email will include an invoice containing a 10-digit bill number shown in large red text. Please include this bill number when submitting your payment.
Once MVFN receives your payment and enters it into the Yapla system, you will receive another email thanking you for your payment and confirming that your camp fee has been paid.
To pay your $70 Camp fee by Interac e-transfer send it to: etransfer@mvfn.ca
In the message or notes section of the e-transfer, please include:
Your full name
The purpose of your payment (Fall Camp Fee)
Your 10-digit bill number, shown in large red text on your invoice
This information will allow MVFN to properly match your payment to your transaction.
If you are not able to pay using either of these secure methods, then you may pay by cheque, payable to Mississippi Valley Field Naturalists (MVFN). Please include your 10-digit bill number, shown in large red text on your invoice, in the notes section of your cheque so we can properly match your payment to your transaction. Because it is summer and there are no monthly meetings with Nature Talks, there is no one available in Finance or Membership to accept hand delivery of your cheque. If you choose to pay by cheque, it must be mailed to MVFN at the address below well ahead of Fall Camp so your fee can be recorded as paid. Please note that the MVFN Post Box is not emptied every day and the Post Office is closed on Labour Day, September 7. Anyone whom our records do not show they have paid the Camp fee will not be permitted to attend camp. None of us wants to spend our weekend chasing after people who have not paid. So if you have to pay by cheque, please do so as soon as possible, so there is plenty of time to receive your payment by mail and to mark your account as paid.

Please note that if you’ll be paddling, you must bring to Camp the same personal and boat safety equipment that is required on our regular day trips. Ensure you are equipped with life jacket, bailing bucket, whistle, heaving line and an extra paddle.
If you have any questions you may reply to this email or contact the committee at paddling@mvfn.ca.
