Bird Walk, Saturday, May 13 2023

MVFN members and friends are invited to join Ken Allison for a Bird Walk at the Marble Woodlands.  This 200 acre piece of property is newly protected by the Mississippi Madawaska Land Trust (MMLT).  It boasts a wide variety of trees, large outcrops of rocks, meadows and wetlands, making wonderful habitats for many species of birds.  Sure footing is required as the trails are uneven in places and require stepping over branches, around rocks and possibly skirting around wet areas.

Date:  Saturday, May 13, 2023 (rain or shine)

Time:  7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.

Location:   The property is on Ramsay, Concession 4A, Mississippi Mills, ON.  It is located between properties 1172 and 1208, but on the west side of the road (i.e. on the opposite side of the road from the two properties). Ramsay Concession 4A is off the Old Perth Road, approximately 7 km west of Almonte from County Road 29.  The Rae Road meets the Old Perth Road near Concession 4A, which is another option from County Road 29.

The approximate coordinates of the Marble Woodlands are:  45.15319933233111, -76.23659167745902

Carpooling:  If you have friends with whom you wish to carpool, please arrange it amongst yourselves.

Parking:  There is a gravel parking area, marked with an MMLT sign, off Concession 4A.

Bring:  Dress appropriately and bring binoculars, hat, and insect repellant.   Waterproof boots are strongly recommended as parts of the trails may be wet and muddy.  Be tick aware – use tick protection and check for ticks at home.

Registration:  No advance registration is required but please sign the standard MVFN waiver sheet upon arrival.
