NOT A CANOE CAMP
For the second year running, we are unable to hold our annual canoe camp. Join us on this “extra” daytrip instead, as we explore the beautiful Madawaska River
Paddle: Madawaska River from Burnstown Beach upriver and return.

From Ottawa: Take Hwy 417 to Arnprior. Continue 18 km past Hwy 29 exit to Calabogie Rd Hwy 508. Turn left. Continue 8km towards Burnstown. Burnstown Beach is on your left.
From Almonte: Hwy 29 to Pakenham. Turn left at the gas station. You pass Scoops Ice Cream as you head out of town. Follow Waba Road to the village of Waba and continue on to the stop sign. Turn left onto White Lake Rd Cty Rd 2 into the village of White Lake. Turn right at the stop sign in the village onto Cty Rd 52 Burnstown Rd. Continue to Burnstown, just over the big bridge. Turn right at the 4-way stop (Neat Cafe is on the corner). Continue about 1 km to the parking lot and boat ramp on right.
The Launch Site: Burnstown Beach, roughly 1km NE of Burnstown on Hwy 508 (heading for Hwy 17). Dock and a sandy beach. Parking is free.
Time: Scheduled departure is 10 am.
The Paddle: Paddle about 5km (2 hours) to our lunch stop at a private dock. Eastern Hemlock, White Pine, Cedar, and Birch line the steep shoreline. Seasonal flowers including cream-coloured bottle gentians and cardinal flowers are on display. Return downriver. Total time including lunch is about 4 hours.
Bring: lunch, lots of water, bug juice, binoculars, sunscreen, etc.
Ensure you are equipped with life jacket, bailing bucket, whistle, heaving line, extra paddle, etc
Registration: You must pre-register for this event by completing the form found here. Please complete a separate form for each participant (see “Submit additional responses” when you submit the form) as we need the “agree” to the waiver from each person.
MVFN membership must be up-to-date (check your membership card). You can update and pay for your membership on the MVFN website. You may bring a friend or two, subject to the approval of the trip leader. For further information, contact Linda Sewell.
In case of severe weather, this event will be cancelled. A confirmation email will go out just prior to the event. If in doubt, contact Linda on the morning of the trip at 613 832-0560 before 8:00 A.M.
