Paddle White Lake

To all members of our MVFN paddling fraternity,

The west end of White Lake is like northern lakes with rocky shores, islands, wetland coves, and bays. Join us for an interesting meander along shores and around islands, interesting creeks and marshes, rock formations and wild flowers. Maybe even a bald eagle. Great fall colours.

Car Pooling Arrangements:

Eastern Lanark and area, meet at Union Hall at the corner of the Wolf Grove and County Road 29 for an 8:45 am departure

West Lanark, meet at Hopetown for 9:15 am departure.

Bring: Picnic lunch, water, binoculars, bug juice, sunscreen, life jackets (mandatory), bailer & whistle.

Post-Speaker Canoe/Kayak Trip to Appleton Wetland

Join us to view firsthand the devastation of the trees in Appleton Wetland.

Meet at the Appleton Bay Park Boat Launch. Bring binoculars, sunscreen, and life jackets.

Paddle Bennett Lake

To all members of our MVFN paddling fraternity

Launch from a cottage site and paddle along the shoreline of Bennett Lake and into Fagan Lake. We will lunch on one of the many islands. There are many coves which are home to a variety of ducks and wildflowers. We might also be lucky enough to see rare black tern nesting and other marsh birds.

Car Pooling Arrangements:

Eastern Lanark and area, meet at Union Hall at the corner of the Wolf Grove and County Road 29 for an 8:45 am departure.

Western Lanark area, meet in Lanark Village at the intersection of Highway 511 and County Rd. 12, by the Bank of Nova Scotia, for 9:15 am departure.

Driving instructions to launch site at 976 Ennis Road, west of Fallbrook:  from Lanark Village take McDonalds Corners Rd (12), turn LEFT at Playfairville onto Fallbrook Rd (7), turn RIGHT onto  Bennett Lake Rd (19), and then finally LEFT onto Ennis Rd;  #976 will be on the right.

Bring: Picnic lunch, water, binoculars, bug juice, sunscreen, life jackets (mandatory), bailer & whistle.

Paddle the Madawaska River

Sunday, July 27, 2014

Paddle 7 km on the Madawaska, upstream from Clay Banks (on White Lake Rd. south of Arnprior) up to the picnic site below the Stewartville hydro dam. Keep an eye out for herons, ducks, swallows, otter, snapping turtles, etc.

Note: At times strong downstream currents may be present as flow is dependent upon hydro dam releases.

Car Pooling Arrangements: Meet at the Antrim Truck Stop located at 580 White Lake Rd. (County Road # 2) on the south side of Hwy 417 (exit 184 westbound) at Arnprior for an 8:45 am departure.

Bring: Picnic lunch, water binoculars, lunch, bug juice, sunscreen, life jackets (mandatory), bailer & whistle.

MVFN Canoe/kayak outing on the Mississippi River from Ferguson Falls

Date: Sunday, July 6, 2014

Paddle the Mississippi from Ferguson’s Falls up to the launch site across from Mal’s Camping and back. Keep an eye out for herons, ducks, swallows, otter, etc.

Car Pooling: from the Esso Station at Almonte, corner of County Rd. 29 & 16 (Christian St. & Wolf Grove) for departure 8:45 am.

Bring: Picnic lunch, binoculars, bug juice and life jackets (mandatory).

NOTE: You must register beforehand for this event. To register and for further information, please contact Louise at 613-882-2358   If you have a canoe and need a partner, or if you don’t have a canoe and would like to partner, please call Louise and she will try to match you up.
