Connecting people with nature in Ontario's Mississippi Valley

Evening Bird Walk

The MVFN Birding Committee is organizing an evening bird walk with Lynda Bennett as our expert birder.  The walk will take place on 12 Concession C of Lanark.  Almost at the summer solstice, there will be a long evening of daylight to look for summer birds.   We expect to see or hear woodland and field birds from the roadway, and water, and marsh birds at Taylor Lake.  On this  route in April, we counted 28 species on an early morning bird walk.  Let’s see if we can beat that number, and compare how the species have changed from April to June.

Date:  Thursday, June 19, 2014

Time:  6:00 – 8:00 p.m.

Location:  The walk will be on 12 Concession C, Lanark (almost 3 km west of  Union Hall).   A vehicle will be parked at Taylor Lake, the half-way point, if anybody needs a ride back up the hill from the lake.

Carpooling:  Meet at the Union Hall (corner of Wolf Grove Rd. & Tatlock Rd., Almonte) at 5:45 p.m.  We plan to leave by 6 p.m.

Bring: binoculars, hat, and insect repellent.

Registration required: Please register beforehand with Mary Robinson (613-256-0817) or by e-mail:  .   There is no fee.

Note:  If the weather is too windy or rainy the walk will be cancelled and rescheduled at another time.  You may contact Mary before 4:30 p.m. on June 19th to confirm the status of this walk.
