1. Remarks from the Chair – Sandy thanked Eileen for hosting the meeting and
offered compliments on the web site. She expressed concern about heavy
responsibility of work for some people and indicated this issue would be
discussed later in the meeting.
2. Approval of the agenda –Moved by Sarah Coulber, seconded by Cliff Bennett that
the agenda be approved. All in favour. Carried.
3. Approval of minutes from November 1, 2001 – Moved by Cliff Bennett, seconded
by Marie Seaman that the minutes be approved. All in favour. Carried.
4. Correspondence- Cliff Bennett received a letter from the Lanark Highlands
Environmental Advisory Committee requesting MVFN membership list in order
to sent out information to members in the Lanark Highlands area; a folder from
Wye Marsh; a thank you from Baillie Birdathon for the contribution of money; a
response from David Anderson’s associate re: endangered species act; a Heritage
Matters magazine; an application from Almonte District HS for an EEPP grant; a
letter from Patricia Larkin re: pesticide bylaws; and a Hamilton Field Naturalist
brochure. Sandy Atack received newsletters from other clubs; articles in the
Lanark Era written by Cliff Bennett; and a letter of resignation from Ron Ayling,
vice-president.
5. Business arising from the minutes and correspondence – Moved by Cliff Bennett,
seconded by Sarah Coulber that the BOD accept the resignation of Ron Ayling
and send him a letter thanking him for his contribution. Cliff Bennett reports that
Canadian Nature Federation membership is still to be renewed; it was agreed that
in response to Lanark Highlands EAC asking for our membership list, Eileen
Hennemann would send an e- mail to our Lanark membership giving them the email
address of Lanark Highlands to contact if they wish to have information;
Cliff Bennett will do a report for the newsletter on the Baille Birdation report and
a thank you to Elizabeth and Gilling Goddard for the contribution of their funds
from the birdathon to the MVFN.
6. Treasurer’s report – Cliff Bennett presented the treasurer’s report. MVFN has
exceeded the revenue predicted in the budget; the Keddy book sales have picked
up; membership is over prediction: the budget is underspent in expenses; directors
are to think ahead for budget for next year
Moved by Cliff Bennett, seconded by Sarah Coulber that the treasurer’s budget by
approved. All in favour. Carried
7. Program – Sarah Coulber reported on up coming activities; the January 20th bird
workshop has 50 people registered with a waiting list; suggestions were given to
lessen the heavy load in program eg. someone responsible for indoor meetings
